Grant & Roberts house

Barcelona

A bold and comprehensive renovation

This small house with a courtyard was entirely renovated. Access to the house is through a common landscaped courtyard. The interiors are dominated by a shade of luminous white, selected for the walls, ceiling, and custom furniture, which blends in with the polished concrete floor in a beige tone. The exposed beam ceiling provides movement in the living room where the predominate white shade is interrupted with finishes consisting of wood furniture and a black iron chimney. The kitchen is equipped with furniture in taupe tones that accentuate the sensation of clarity and amplitude.

A wooden staircase leads to the upper floor where we find a slightly sloped ceiling and the bedrooms, also painted in white with wood flooring. The beautiful singularity of the project lies in its location, access, and preserved elements combined with the clients’ boldness which allowed us to inject new life into this home with simple resources and a virtually monochromatic palette. If the clients had been High Grant and Julia Roberts, we could easily be in Notting Hill. Never before had such a tight budget for comprehensive renovation resulted in such a surprising outcome, thanks in part to the clients’ boldness.
